CAULIFLOWER, BROCOVERDE
Brocoverde is not a typical cauliflower, as the heads are green rather than white. A good source of minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin C, folic acid, potassium and bioflavonoids. The heads are low in calories and high in fiber. Brocoverde contains antioxidants. Antioxidants have been associated with their ability to protect against oxidative damage. Flavor is as sweet and mild as the best white cauliflower.
Start seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before planting outdoors. Or, sow outdoors by placing 2 seeds together every 2 feet in row. Thin to one plant every 2 feet when plants are 1 inch tall.
Cauliflower needs plenty of water and fertilizer. A good producer again when planted in summer for fall harvest just before frost.
